Sialkot Material Testing Laboratory (SIMTEL) was established in year 2001 under the supervision, guidance and initiative of FDA, USA,. The project is being jointly manged by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) & Surgical Instrument Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP). The laboratory is equipped with modern, sophisticated and Hi-Tech testing equipments in order to conforming made in SIALKOT medical instruments to the International Standard specifications and provision of consultancy to the manufacturers and exporters to improve the manufacturing techniques and processes of medical instruments.

1 - To perform extensive analytical testing of metals and alloys to verify and to identify the elemental contents in different types of Stainless Steels

2 - To advise the customers with regard to type/grade of Stainless Steels used i.e., AISI-410, 420, 440, AISI-301, 302, 303, 304 and 316L as International Standards.

3 - To evaluate samples, non-conforming to the standards by the Spectro Lab and then after chemical testing, the reasons of failure are evaluated by Metallographic microstructures and manufacturers are advised accordingly to resolve their problems.

4 - To ensure that proper Standard Operating Procedures, good laboratory practices are being employed and appropriate quality control measures are being carried out.

5 - Free Consulting Services are also being provided by SIMTEL to all surgical manufacturers and exporters with regard to technical hindrances in product development or production process.
